|Samenvatting||This paper is based on the research currently being carried out by the "DARWIN" project - Driving in AdveRse Weather and vIsibility coNditions - which is supported by the European Commission BRITE-EURAM III Programme. Partners in the DARWIN Project are Centro Ricerche Fiat (Italy - co-ordinators), Robert Bosch GmbH (Germany), Vertex S.A. (France), CEDIP S.A. (France) and Cranfield University (United Kingdom). The DARWIN research programme is currently in the process of developing a driver vision support system, based on far infrared technology, to aid driving in conditions of reduced visibility. DARWIN aims to produce a prototype of the system, installed in a Lancia K demonstrator vehicle, by the end of the three-year project, which is due to finish at the end of 2000.|
